Why does Monte Vista Plattekloof Glen (MVPG) need a CID?
A group of residents has embarked on an initiative to establish a City Improvement District (CID) for our area with the aim of making Monte Vista & Plattekloof Glen safer, cleaner & greener and uplift those in need. The ambition is to reduce crime as far as possible, keep our public spaces as safe as they can be for all to enjoy and improve our community's public areas and facilities. The City of Cape Town must and will deliver the services we pay for via our basic rates, but as we all know and understand, the lion's share of the collective rates pool is dedicated to the communities most in need.
Via a CID, Monte Vista and Plattekloof Glen has the the opportunity to follow more than 50 other communities in Cape Town who have chosen to come together to fund supplementary service delivery to better their areas. If approved by our community, a CID will allocate resources principally to reducing crime but also to cleaning and improving our public spaces and their facilities, and supporting appropriate local social upliftment causes for the betterment of Monte Vista and Plattekloof Glen.

A CID must meet the needs and expectations of all community members. To achieve this a comprehensive survey is being conducted and your participation is invaluable to provide insight into the current state of our community and areas which need improvement.

Public Safety
Improved security through a comprehensive network of measures including 24/7 monitored CCTV and licence plate recognition cameras, patrols and response vehicles.
Cleaning & Maintenance
A cleaner, greener suburb through litter collection, street cleaning, weeding, verge maintenance and grass mowing.
Environmental Improvement
Safer, more attractive public spaces through planting, cleaning, repairs and upgrades to park equipment and facilities.
Social Upliftment
Engaging with relevant bodies to help those less fortunate, supporting existing NGOs and community-focussed projects in the suburb, focus on removing/preventing illegal structures.
